Vizag loses 3rd place in Swachh Survekshan
The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) had failed in sustaining its third place in the Swachh Survekshan-2018. It may be recalled that the GVMC secured third position in 2017 Swachh Survekshan and this year Chandigarh city bagged the third place.

Indore and Bhopal won the first and second places respectively. Though the GVMC is continuing its efforts with more mechanisation to make the city clean and green, the Port City had failed to sustain its third rank in the Swachh Survekshan.
The city secured fifth in 2016, third place in 2017 and was striving to stand in first or second places during 2018 Swachh Survekshan. The GVMC in a record time constructed around 13,000 individual toilets to encourage ODF programme and also improved the community and public toilets in the city.
