Speaking to reporters at base complex here on Friday, he said the ONGC is planning to produce 150 million cubic metric tonnes (MCMT) of oil per day and 4,500 standard cubic metres (SCM) of gas per day from the well by May-end.

As part of it, 1 ZST well was revived, which was first drilled in 2014, he said and added from February 2019, 450 million metric tonnes of oil and 1.50 lakh standard cubic metres of gas will be produced from the field.

Moitra said the ONGC was using advanced technology for drilling operations from 4,500-4,600 metres depth. Stating environment clearances were given by the Central government, he said a high pressure (HP) high temperature (HT) wells have a pressure of more than 10,000 pressure per inch (PPI) and a temperature of more than 300 Fahrenheit and these wells are called unconventional sources of energy.

The present two-day meeting was aimed to harness the advance technology to exploit HPHT hydrocarbons in Krishna-Godavari Basin (KGB) by fast tracking the drilling operations in future. ONGC planned to drill 24HPHT on land wells in next three years in KGB by spending Rs 2,000 crore.

Over 15 national and international service providers possessing expertise in logging, drilling, cementing and mud engineering are participating in the meeting. The gas produced from HPHT wells will be given for special price as the investment is high. ONGC is putting its endeavour to reduce 10 per cent import of oil and gas by 2022, he said.

Currently, ONGC Rajahamendravaram Asset is producing 850 million metric tonnes of oil and 34 lakh standard cubic metres of gas per day and plans are afoot to escalate oil and gas production in the ensuing years.
