Vijayawada: The leaders of Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress tried to lay siege to the BJP state office here on Friday. The leaders staged protest in front of the State BJP office and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah.

Addressing the gathering, Youth Congress leader Y Rakesh said that the BJP was trying to grab power in Karnataka against the democratic norms. The people of country would teach a fitting lesson to them.

Tension prevailed for some time when the leaders of the BJP tried to thwart the attempt of Youth Congress activists. They also raised slogans criticising Congress leaders. However, the police foiled the attempt of Youth Congress leaders by taking them into custody.

On the other hand, BJP state general secretary Suresh Reddy said the Congress and JDS could not get majority seats separately when compared to BJP and they failed to retain their seats.

Speaking to media persons later, he said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had given call against the BJP. But people voted in favour of BJP which was able to secure majority of seats in Karnataka Assembly polls. He said that the BJP would retain power in the State and in also in Centre. Various political parties were making plans to defame the BJP with hidden agendas, he said.
