Anantapur: The once trusted lieutenant of late Paritala Ravindra and commander of PWG Reorganisation Committee Pothula Suresh says that he is a transformed man. The man, who believed in battle of bullets now talks of battle of ballot and his close affinity with the family of slain TDP leader Paritala Ravindra, who he says was an out and out a people's leader.

Interacting recently with The Hans India, he speaks about social justice which he says is still a far cry and something that has to be fought for in a democratic manner. “When we were in the jungles we thought the battle of bullet was the only medium through which we can achieve social justice but only time made me realise that the jungle battle was just one of the different faces of struggle. We had our own limitations that time and it was not an easy thing fighting dark shadows in thick jungles,” he stated.

When he realised overground battle is more effective than underground battle and the battle of the ballet more precise than battle of bullet, Suresh said he reviewed old methods and came overground to launch struggles against a transparent enemy instead of fighting dark shadows in the secluded jungles. Of course, the battle of ballot is not an easy thing as it is a costly affair and has more to do with currency notes and not current affairs, he muttered while explaining the vagaries of his journey from jungle to concrete jungle.

Suresh said that it is not easy winning electoral battles considering the money power in politics. He is now engaging in intellectual dialogue with people he is meeting to realise his dream of achieving social justice and equality. He said that his wife lost the electoral battle in 2004 from Chirala constituency after he came overground and this is one example of the battle between the have's and have-not's in electoral arena.

The power of money is the chief enemy versus political power. To the question, if he would contest in the 2019 Assembly elections, he says that as a family member of the Paritala Ravindra, Sunitha Akka's political interests are paramount to him and his contesting the election is secondary but if the party high command insists that he also be in the electoral fray along with Akka, he would not shy away
from it.

The question of safe constituency also matters, he added. Replying to another question, Suresh said that no cases were pending against him relating to his underground movement of yester years. He is a free man after his surrender to the government.
