Visakhapatnam: In the wake of viral fevers gripping the Agency areas, Collector and ITDA Chairman Pravin Kumar directed the health officials to conduct medical camps at all areas including Shandies in Agency.

2. Asks officials to shift patients to nearest big hospital in ambulance or any other vehicle on rent without waiting for any permission from higher authorities

The doctors and medical staff have been directed to conduct health camps at all educational institutions to check the health condition of students. To control the diseases and not to spread further, the collector directed the health department to conduct medical tests on all suspected patients.

He also directed the ITDA and other department officials to check the areas where number of people affected and prepare a list of hamlets to conduct and ensure medical camps in those areas. If the local doctor refers the patient for higher treatment, the officials should shift him to nearest big hospital in ambulance or any other vehicle on rent without waiting for any permission from higher authorities.

The collector along with senior officials visited the Agency areas including Paderu and Chintapalle and GK Veedhi mandals. During his whirlwind visit, the collector warned the officials that if any person died due to malaria or any other disease, the respective medical officer and ANM should be held responsible for it.

After his whirlwind visits, the collector convened a review meeting with all the medical officers and enquired about the availability of medicines, ambulance, vacant doctor posts, needs to conduct medical camps and malathion spraying programme.
