Ongole: The Ongole sub-division police arrested two persons for spreading fear in public by posting fake news on Parthi gang on social media.

The people in Prakasam district are attacking innocent and mentally unfit for a while suspecting that they belong to the criminal Parthi gang. The district police officials are trying to spread awareness through messages on social media that there is no Parthi gang in the district and warned public that they will initiate criminal action on the people who attack innocent people and spread messages that instill fear about the criminal gang.

According to Ongole DSP B Srinivasa Rao, the Singarayakonda police identified two people, Chintaguntla Vinod of Mittapalem in Kondepi mandal and Nayudu Jalaram of Pakala village in Singarayakonda mandal for spreading false messages on Parthi gang in social media. The Singarayakonda CI P Deva Prabhakar and SI Naga Malleswara Rao arrested the two people and sent for remand.

The DSP also announced the police inspectors are doing Palle Nidra, a programme to sleep in the villages after creating awareness about Parthi gang. He said the SIs of Ongole taluk, Kothapatnam, Santanutalapadu, Naguluppalapadu, Maddipadu, Kondepi and Tangutur police stations spent the night of Friday in the villages.

He asked the public to call 100 and inform police, if they came across information about any suspicious people but do not take law and order into their hands. He requested the public to stop spreading fake messages and rumours about the Parthi gang movement in the district and save themselves from going to jail.
