Two women beaten up over child abduction rumours

Vizianagaram: Two women were beaten up by locals in S Kota and Ayyannapeta suspecting that they are kidnaping children. But later they came to know that the two women are innocent and homeless orphans.

The people in the district became panic with rumours spreading that Bihar gang is roaming in villages and kidnapping children. With this baseless news the parents are fearing and even suspecting every unknown person in their villages. Even they are not hesitating to beat up unknown persons.

A woman was beaten up in Seethampeta village of S Kota mandal recently on the same cause. Later the locals came to know that the woman was not mentally sound.

On Wednesday, locals of Ayyannapeta in Vizianagaram town also beaten up a person with same allegation. Superintendent of Police G Palaraju refuted the rumours of kidnapping gang from Bihar and said so far, no case was registered on such grounds. “These are all baseless rumours and appealed to public not to beat anybody with unconfirmed allegations,” he said.
