Three members of a family were killed on the spot when the bike on which they were travelling was hit by a speeding lorry from rear at Nulakapet in Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district on Sunday.
Guntur: Three members of a family were killed on the spot when the bike on which they were travelling was hit by a speeding lorry from rear at Nulakapet in Tadepalli mandal of Guntur district on Sunday.
According to Tadepalli Sub-Inspector K.Pratap, the deceased were identified Ch Srikanth (29), his wife Sarita (25) and their daughter Akshara (3). When they reached Nulakalapet Centre, a sand-laden lorry hit their bike from back side.
They sustained serious injurious and died on the spot. Police suspect that rash driving of the lorry driver led to accident and killed the three members of the family on the spot.
Locals and relatives of the deceased expressed ire over the rash driving of the lorry driver and staged a rasta roko. As a result, vehicles were stranded on both sides of the highway.
Police swung into action and brought the situation under control. The police seized the lorry and shifted to the police station. The lorry driver is absconding. Sub-Inspector Pratap rushed to the spot and inquired about the accident.
The bodies were shifted to the local government hospital for post-mortem. Tadepalli police registered a case and took up investigation.
