Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy said that the Telugus taught fitting lesson to the BJP in Karnataka elections.

Addressing the gathering at the Congress workers rally here on Sunday as part of celebrations of Congress-JDS victory in Karnataka, he said the BJP faced defeat as the Telugus voted against it. He said that the Congress victory would continue in 2019 elections also.

The people voted against the BJP and its undemocratic policies, he said. He alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah were misusing the power to protect their political interests. He said that the people were already aware of their unlawful acts.

He said that the BJP’s defeat begins from Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka States and the same trend would continue across the country. The Congress workers rally started from the PCC office and ended at Lenin Centre. The activists of the Congress raised slogans against the BJP.

About 200 people joined the Congress on the occasion. AP Mahila Congress president Sunkara Padmashree, Congress leaders Kolanukonda Sivaji, Naraharisetty Srihari, D Muralimohan Rao, Akula Srinivas, Meesala Rajeshwara Rao and several other leaders were present.
