The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths caught Old Guntur Sub-Inspector J Venkata Narasimha Rao while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1-lakh from the complainant at Lakshmi Ganapati Juice Shop near RTC Bus Stand here on Wednesday to evade arrest in connection with a case.
Guntur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths caught Old Guntur Sub-Inspector J Venkata Narasimha Rao while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 1-lakh from the complainant at Lakshmi Ganapati Juice Shop near RTC Bus Stand here on Wednesday to evade arrest in connection with a case.
According to ACB officials, SI Venkata Narasimha Rao has been harassing the realtor Devarakonda Subba Rao to give Rs 2.5-lakh for the past 10 days to evade being arrested.
Vexed with the harassment of the SI, the realtor met Anti-Corruption Bureau DSP Devanand Santo and explained about his problem. Hence, he laid a trap and asked Subba Rao to hand over Rs 1-lakh to SI Venkata Narasimha Rao at juice shop.
The ACB officials caught him while he was accepting bribe. They registered a case against the SI and took up investigation.
