Vijayawada: Indian Medical Association convener and secretary Dr Rasik Sanghvi demanded an unconditional apology from Energy Minister Kimidi Kala Venkat Rao for insulting and denigrating the Marwadi Rajasthani community people.

He referred to a report appeared on May 23 in a Telugu daily in which Minister K Kala Venkat Rao reportedly stated while addressing the TDP cadre at Rajamahendravaram Mahanadu that not giving Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh after promising at Tirupati meeting was like ‘Marwadi Chai’, which means in Marwadi community, if a guest comes, they order for chai and at the same time they gesture not to get it.

Dr Sanghvi said that it was very unfortunate and cheap remark with which the TDP minister insulted the Marwadi Rajasthani community. He said that Marwadis are very hardworking, honest, god-fearing, enterprising and peace-loving people.

He said Marwadis are in all fields and business is in their blood. He, on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh Marwadi Rajasthani community, condemned the remarks of Minister and demanded him to tender apology. He appealed to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to tell his Cabinet colleagues and leaders to maintain restraint while speaking at meetings.
