During a meeting with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat on Saturday, Ritesh Agarwal, founder of OYO, discussed opportunities for development of tourism and hospitality in the State and agreed to the proposal of constructing rooms.

He informed the Chief Minister that they specialise in transforming branded and unbranded properties into affordable quality living spaces. In AP, they possessed properties in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and Nellore.

Chandrababu Naidu said that OYO should collaborate with the state in promoting village tourism and agriculture tourism. Another important prospect is sports tourism, as there are plenty of rivers, reservoirs and water bodies in the state, he said. Agarwal expressed keenness to work cluster-wise, and customise properties according to the cultural backgrounds of the regions.

He sought the support of the Chief Minister for the implementation of a new technology with end-to-end encryption, which will digitise physical hotel registers. The Chief Minister said that within 10 years, he wants an ecosystem to be created in the state with entertainment, shopping, water sports, luxury resorts, sanctuaries, temple tourism, village tourism and agriculture tourism.

With the greenery, water bodies and the beautiful coast, he said that he wanted to expand the hospitality sector in a big way, ensuring at least 1 lakh rooms in the next 10 years. He said that he wants Agarwal to come back with clear-cut milestones.
