Tirupati: Gaiety and religious fervour marked the Rathotsavam of Lord Govindaraja Swamy here on Monday. Among the Brahmotsava Vahana sevas of Sri Govindaraja Swamy temple in Tirupati, the procession of wooden chariot on the penultimate day of the utsavam is be the most important event after Garuda Seva.

The Rathotsavam also happens to be the lengthiest one as it covers many important streets surrounding the temple in the pilgrim city. Devotees chanting ‘Govinda Govinda’ enthusiastically pulled the chariot adding more to the spiritual ambiance.

The deities adorned with rare and dazzling jewels, mounted on the flower decked wooden chariot went on a procession feasting the eye of the devotees, who stood on both sides of the road to witness the colourful religious festival.

The TTD and Local police made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of Rathotsavam. The nine-day Brahmotsavam of Lord Govindaraja Swamy temple which is underway will come to end on Tuesday with the performance of Chakrasnanam.
