Nellore sizzles at 44 degree Celsius

Nellore: The district sizzled at 44 degree Celsius on Wednesday. People have been bit comfortable with regular evening breezes from south and south-east direction in the district, but the situation had changed with sudden rise in temperatures.

Now, sultriness, heat waves and huge temperatures even in the late evening have been bothering population.Upland mandals witnessed temperatures of above 44 degrees and Nellore city has recorded 43.7 degree Celsius at 3.30 pm, according to the Chief Minister’s dash which was based on automatic weather stations on hourly basis.

Nellore city normally becomes cool as soon as it gets sea breeze, but the situation has changed on Wednesday. The district has been witnessing temperatures ranging between 38 and 39 for some time and they started increasing for a couple of days.

The Met department also warned that the situation of high temperatures would continue for the next 2-3 days. AP State Disaster Management Authority warned people not to venture outside between 11 am and 4 pm to avoid sunstroke fatalities.

Experts in Meteorology department say normally temperatures increase during onset of monsoon and they would gradually come down with spread of monsoon in all regions.
