The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is strengthening the department by increasing the staff from the existing 415 personnel to 715 by taking 300 police personnel on deputation and recruiting 50 persons on outsourcing basis. 

Vijayawada: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is strengthening the department by increasing the staff from the existing 415 personnel to 715 by taking 300 police personnel on deputation and recruiting 50 persons on outsourcing basis.

In order to strengthen the ACB, the State government had issued G.O. 30 in March 2018 to take the staff from the Police department on deputation basis. In tune with the G.O, about 150 police personnel working in various categories from constable to DSP level submitted their applications to work in the ACB. Now, the ACB officials are verifying the suitability of the police personnel.

The ACB officials are verifying the past record of the police personnel and conducting inquiry about them. After verification, the ACB will send the list to the State DGP for approval.

ACB DGP R P Thakur told The Hans India that the ACB would take 300 personnel from the police department on deputation and the process has already been started. He said verification of the service records of the police personnel is must for the deputation.

The State government had issued orders in March, 2018 for the deputation of 300 police personnel. These include one Joint Director, seven additional superintendents of police, nine deputy superintendents, 34 inspectors, 43 sub-inspectors, 11 assistant sub-inspectors, 49 head constables, 110 police constables, six legal advisers and an additional standing counsel.

Besides, the ACB can take administrative staff on deputation basis. After completing the deputation work, the ACB will start recruitment of 50 personnel mostly office staff on outsourcing basis, said a senior officer.

So far, two DSPs, 16 circle inspectors, 12 sub-inspectors, 9 assistant sub-inspectors, 140 constables expressed their willingness to work in the ACB on deputation. The officials are verifying the suitability of the received applications.

The ACB is constructing new office buildings in the State. In the year 2016 the ACB booked 236 cases and in 2017 registered 241 cases. By the end of May, 2018, the department booked 79 cases. The officials booked trap cases, disproportionate assets (DA) cases and criminal misconduct cases.
