Ongole: The bank employees from various associations and federations under United Forum of Bank Unions took out a bike rally and burnt the effigy of Indian Banks Association, on the second and last day of their strike, demanding that the government hike salaries.

As part of the protests, the bank employees gathered at the Andhra Bank in the court street on Thursday morning and took out the bike rally through the State Bank of India main branch to reach Church center.

There they formed a human chain and burnt the effigy of the IBA flaying that it offered just 2 percent of the salary hike while it was a tradition to give 15 percent of the hike at every pay revision.

Later, they moved to Andhra Bank main branch to sit in protest.

Apart from the bank employees associations, the bankers received support from the various trade unions like CITU, AITUC, RTC Employees Union, NFTU of BSNL employees as solidarity.

The leaders from these organisations including K Nageswara Rao, Ramalingam, Sk Mastan, V Venkaiah, B Murthy, Ch Srinivasa Rao and S Lalita Kumari flayed the government and alleged that the IBA was resorting to anti-worker actions.
