Narsapuram: YSRCP president and Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy described the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)’s Mahanadu as ‘Daganadu’ (imposture meeting).

He lambasted TDP national president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu stating that he was showing a cinema to the Andhra Pradesh people in the name of capital construction.

The Praja Sankalpa Yatra of Jagan reached Narsapuram on Wednesday and he addressed a public meeting at Steamer Road Centre in the evening.

Criticising the TDP chief for conducting the Mahanadu, the YSRCP leader pointed out that Ministers and leaders who participated in the Mahanadu confined themselves to criticising the YSRCP only.

“They forgot the assurances given during the elections. Chandrababu Naidu thinks about people only during elections,” he criticised. Jagan said there was a competition among the TDP leaders in telling lies at the Mahanadu. TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu bagged the first prize in the contest while his son Nara Lokesh secured the second prize, he said.

Referring to Narsapur constituency problems, the YSRCP leader said that before every election, Chandrababu Naidu recollects his memory that Vasistha Varadhi across River Vasistha should be constructed. Before every election Naidu would come up with an assurance in this regard, the Opposition leader said.

Jagan flayed the State government for not even paying Rs 4,000 to the fishermen during the period when fishing is banned. After Naidu became the Chief Minister, no new boats were registered as the government would have to pay subsidy on diesel, he said.

Jagan wondered as to why the TDP government failed to construct houses for fishermen community. He assured that after the YSRCP government comes to power, Fishermen Development Corporation would be established in the State and new boats would be distributed.

During no-fishing days, a monthly assistance of Rs 10,000 would be paid to fishermen families, he assured. An insurance facility of Rs 10 lakh would be provided if a fisherman died in an accident.

Jagan also assured that he would reinstate the Arogyasri scheme in the State. He pointed out that he had already announced ‘Nava Ratnalu’ scheme and implement it if the YSRCP is voted to power. Referring to the salt farmers problems, the Opposition leader expressed concern over the salt farmers in Narsapur area being deprived of the minimum support price.
