Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy urged the State government to set up a special corporation exclusively for physically challenged persons.

The members of Divyanga Hakkula Sadhana Samiti (DHSS) met Raghuveera Reddy at Andhra Ratna Bhavan here on Thursday. They requested the Congress to mount pressure on the government to solve their problems. On this occasion, Raghuveera Reddy said that the Telugu Desam government should fulfil its election promises.

He said the government had allotted Rs 200 crore for the welfare of the differently abled persons. But the funds were not spent for the welfare of these sections. The government gave assurance to them for allocation of special funds, he said and added that as to why the special funds were not allocated to them.

He demanded the government to pay Rs 5,000 to each physically challenged person without any classification. He asked the government to withdraw the single pension system and pay pension covering all the physically challenged persons. The Congress party would extend support to the physically challenged persons and their problems would be brought the notice of his party national leadership.
