Redsanders task force seizes Rs. 1.50 Cr worth logs in Nellore

Nellore : Red Sanders Task Force team held a 6-member gang seizing Rs.1.50 Cr worth 35 red sander logs, 3 vehicles, 8 mobile phones and 800 grams of gold from them.

The accused were identified as S.M.Ravi, S.M.Venkataraju, Manjunath, Gajendra and Rajendran Balaji. District SP PHD Ramakrishna disclosed the case details at Umesh Chanda conference hall here on Thursday and said that the gang members were buying red sander logs from the smugglers and export to other countries.

‘The gang also provides security to the illegal transportation of red sanders after paying unauthorized taxes to them. The smugglers gang also hijack another smuggling gang and loot logs from them, who transport logs through their area,’ said the SP. He added that they had seized advanced weapons from the gang.

He informed that smugglers were diverting the stocks from Kadapa- Chennai route to Anantapur - Bengaluru routes now. Keeping an eye on the movements of the smugglers Task Force team held the smugglers at Venkatachala Satram, Podalakur and also in Kavali rural Police station limits, said the SP. Additional SP B.Sarath Babu, OSD-Crimes T.P.Vithaleswar and others were present.
