Vijayawada: Krishna Lanka police on Thursday arrested one Narendra Singh, 23, resident of Ranigari Thota, for allegedly misleading the police and family members saying that he was kidnapped by unknown persons who demanded Rs 3 lakh ransom for his release.

According to police, Narendra Singh, a panipuri vendor, has been living with his brother Indra Singh at Ranigari Thota for the past three years. Both brothers migrated from Uttar Pradesh three years ago. They had disputes over property in Uttar Pradesh.

To resolve the dispute with his brother, Narendra Singh had decided to enact a kidnap drama saying that he was kidnapped by unknown persons on May 29. He left the home on May 29 evening and called up his brother Indra Singh the next morning over phone saying that he was kidnapped by some unknown persons who are demanding Rs 3 lakh for the release.

Indra Singh lodged a complaint with Krishna Lanka police about the kidnap. The police during the investigation found that he was not kidnapped and was only enacting the drama. They verified the CCTV footage and also verified the call data of his mobile. They confirmed that Narendra Singh was misleading the police and family members and arrested him on May 30.
