Visakhapatnam: The banking sector in the country was almost collapsed due to faulty policies of the Central government, alleged Bank Employees and Officers Associations.

Therefore, the Indian Banking Association, the officers and employees of all the banks called for a two-day strike on Wednesday and Thursday. As a part of their stir, the employees and officials staged a dharna at GVMC administrative building here on Wednesday.

Addressing a massive gathering, leaders of various bank employees associations, including Vasudeva Rao, P Mangapathi, JRS Kumar, M Yugandhar, PRN Prasad, RV Ravi Kumar and Krishna Mohan, alleged that due to bold decisions of the Central government, the banks have been facing tough times and even facing troubles to pay salaries.

The leaders said observing the troubles of the common man, they called for the two-day strike across the nation. Demonetisation led to cash crunch, they pointed out.

They lamented that the banks failed to collect the huge amounts of loans given to the influential people and now facing with high rate of NPAs. The government with a strong intention to damage the national banks and was implementing anti-people policies and there is a threat to the economy in future, the leaders explained.
