The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) presented special jury award to the Andhra Pradesh Police, for incorporating smart innovative policing in the state.
Ongole: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) presented special jury award to the Andhra Pradesh Police, for incorporating smart innovative policing in the state.
The Prakasam district police also received appreciation from the federation for introducing eVerify app, to track down criminals.
The FICCI and Vivekananda International Federation have organised a workshop on ‘Home Land Security 2018 and Cyber Crime Management’ in New Delhi on May 30 and 31.
They shared information and discussed on Cyber Crime, Cyber Security, Next Generation Technologies and Opportunities for Police with the experts from industry and police academies.
The FICCI invited applications from the state police forces and Central Armed Police forces explaining their best practices in policing. The federation received 211 nominations from the States and Central police forces including 14 from Andhra Pradesh police.
The jury members including GK Pillai, Former Union Home Secretary, Manjari Jaruhar, Former Special DG, CISF, Jayanto N Choudhury, Former DG, National Security Guard, Mr Alok Bansal, Director, India Foundation and Dr Sushma Yadav, Professor of Public Policy and Governance, Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) selected 40 of the nominations for various awards.
The eVerify from Prakasam district, LHMS and RAIS from Chittoor, Offenders Surveillance from Anantapur, Papillon from CID AP and PINS by AP police are the six nominations from Andhra Pradesh that were selected by the jury for special jury award.
The eVerify, an app prepared by the Prakasam district police is among the six nominations that received the special jury award.
The eVerify app is connected to the database of biometrics of history sheeters, known depredators, dossier criminals and suspects collected in the server.
As of now, the Andhra Pradesh Police have a database of nearly 30,000 criminals in the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System.
This app will use the data along with the facility to include new entries through the android app. The handheld device will be used to register and verify the fingerprints of the criminals or even suspects so that the patrolling parties can know whether a person in front them is a criminal or not.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Statistics and Programme Implementation Vijay Goel presented the special jury award to the Andhra Pradesh DGP Dr M Malakondaiah on Thursdayevening.
Prakasam District SP Bhusarapu Satya Yesubabu, Chittoor District SP G Rajasekhar Babu, DSP Ramakrishna joined the DGP to receive the awards.
The Union minister said that the awards should inspire the police personnel in the country to emulate the best policing practices exemplified by the awardees and earn the respect of the public.
He said that it was critical to inspire public confidence in the police forces who act as guardians of the society. He suggested that award should be instituted on 'Public Confidence' so that people look up to the police personnel and help them perform their duties more effectively.
