Vijayawada: A one-day state-level workshop on electrocardiogram (ECG) tests was organised by Krishna District Chapter of Andhra Pradesh Physicians Association here on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, cardiologist PV Siva Prasad Rao of Sentini Hospital said heart functions, nervous system, chest pain and heart enlargement would be easily recognised through the ECG tests which would help in controlling deaths caused by heart disease.

He said lack of exercise, uncontrolled diabetes and hypertension, lack of diet restriction, mental tension and sleeplessness were the most common causes of the heart disease, he said.

He said that with ECG, the symptoms of heart disease can be easily identified. The first three hours after a person suffers a heart attack is called Golden Hours.

With ECG test, one can be identified about heart stroke and can be rushed to the nearest hospital to save the life, he explained.

ECG report would also be used for tele medication to save the life of a patient who suffers heart stroke, he informed.

Dr Prasad said the young doctors were following the latest technology and said that old systems were equally valuable.

He said that the patient who suffers heart attack should be rushed to the hospital and treatment should be started immediately without wasting time for CT Scan and MRI scans, he added.

About 16 cardiologists from across the world participated and shared their experiences and views. About 500 doctors were present.
