Eluru: Andhra Pradesh Rythu Sangham (APRS) Upland District Committee secretary K Srinivas demanded that the Government pay legitimate compensation to the displaced farmers of Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme (CLIS) and National Highway Extension Programme (NHEP).

He addressed farmers’ meeting held at Anne Bhavan here on Sunday.

Speaking at the meeting, he alleged that the Centre and State Governments were neglecting the problems of the farmers in land acquisition.

He stated that the Government had acquired the lands for various Central and state projects and did not pay the legitimate compensation as per the Land Acquisition (Amendment) Act, 2013.

He alleged that the TDP Government had enacted the amendment to 2013 LA Act to minimise the compensation to the farmers and it was unfortunate that the President had okayed the State’s amendment Act.

He demanded that the government pay the compensation to the farmers as per 2013 Land Acquisition Act for CLIS lands in Chintalapudi, Kamavarapukota, Lingapalem and T Narsapuram mandals.
