The long-pending dream of over 20 lakh citizens of Port City finally comes to a reality with the ground set for commencement of Maharanipeta, Gopalapatnam and Mulagada tahsildar offices from June 4 in the city.
Visakhapatnam: The long-pending dream of over 20 lakh citizens of Port City finally comes to a reality with the ground set for commencement of Maharanipeta, Gopalapatnam and Mulagada tahsildar offices from June 4 in the city.
The existing tahsildar office in Visakhapatnam urban mandal was set up in 1989 with 16 revenue villages and 9 town wards from erstwhile Visakhapatnam taluk.
The existing office nearly receives 23,000-25,000 applications every month through 110 Mee-Seva centres for issuing of certificates. And it is very difficult for it to process the applications and for speedy disposal of applications within the stipulated period.
Besides these, there are many caste, income, residence certificates are being referred by the courts and government for verification of genuineness of certificates.
Meanwhile, as a protocol duty and other office work, the tahsildar of urban mandal is not available to people. As the city area spread in 25-km radius, the people are facing tough times to visit the urban tahsildar’s office.
The government bifurcated the urban mandal and divided into four mandals including the existing mandal. The district administration submitted proposals to the government through CCLA for sanction of regular staff to the new mandals.
Meanwhile, some of the revenue officials were deputed to new offices on deputation basis for functioning of new mandal administration till the regular staff come from the government.
Till the new tahsildars appointed for new mandals, the Seethammadhara tahsildar for Maharanipeta, Pendurty tahsildar for Gopalapatnam and Pedagantyada tahsildar for Mulagada mandal were appointed as in-charges with full additional charge.
The Seetammadhara office covers Allipuram Extension Ward, Resapuvanipalem, Dondaparthy, Maddilapalem, Venkojipalem, Chinnawaltair and Pedawaltair with population of 3,73,621.
The Maharanipeta office covers Maharanipeta, Allipuram Ward, Market Ward, Chengalraopeta, Shivalayam Ward, Seetharama Swamy temple Ward, Port Ward, Godari Street and Waltair ward with a population of 3,81,914.
Gopalapatnam mandal office covers Marripalem, Madhavadhara, Buthirajupalem, Kancharapalem Ward, Kancharapalem village, Kapparada, Pullambatlapalem, Venkatapuram and Gopalapatnam with a total population of 4,69,705.
Mulagada Mandal Revenue Building covers Malkapuram, Mulagada and Gullalapalem with a total population of 1,71,575.
