Vijayawada: To promote tourism in the district, the Krishna district administration is conducting beach festival in Machilipatnam and Food festival in Vijayawada.

Though the district is blessed with coast line, it failed to attract the tourists. Now, the district administration is paying attention to host beach festival to attract the tourists.

As the summer impact is gradually coming down, people can have fun and frolic at the beach festival in the district headquarters Machilipatnam and the port town is colourfully decorated to welcome the visitors from across the state.

Beach volleyball, Heli ride, flowers and mangoes show, musical concert, cultural programmes and cooking 100 feet Dosa are some of the highlights of beach festival to be held from June 9 to 11 in Machilipatnam. Visitors can have helicopter ride for Rs 2,500.

A 100 feet Dosa will be cooked by expert chefs to create new Guinness record. Addressing media conference at the camp office on Monday, collector B Lakshmikantham said the three-day mega beach festival will also cover horse raid, camel ride, food park, joy riding, archery, painting ball, sand arts and para-sailing.

The district administration in co-ordination with the tourism department will made elaborate arrangements for the festival. Machilipatnam beach festival has been named as Mysolia, which is the ancient name of the port town.

Lakshmikantham said the district administration is planning to promote temple tourism also in the district by operating special buses to Vedadri and Ghantasala in the district.

He also said Food festival will be organised in Vijayawada at the SRR and CVR Government college. He said variety of dishes with fish, crab, lobster, shrimp and other sea food and many varieties of dishes will be made with millets.

Besides, cultural programmes including traditional dances will be organised at the SRR and CVR Government college, he added. He said the Food festival will provide a wonderful opportunity to the families to enjoy variety of dishes.
