Guntur: About 90 associate professors working in government medical colleges in the state are to get promotions as professors very soon. Similarly, the same number of assistant professors of the government medical colleges will be promoted as associate professors. The government will fill vacant assistant professors posts through direct recruitment system shortly.
The proposal sent by the medical education department (DME) to the government was referred to the department promotions committee which will take some more time. The committee will give promotions to the eligible as per guidelines framed by the government.
The medical education department is seeking nod from the government to give promotions to the eligible associate professors working in the government medical colleges as professors and sent a proposal to the government to this effect. After getting the permission from the government, they will be promoted.
Sources in the department said that after filling professor and, associate professor posts, they will get clarity on filling assistant professor posts. “It will take at least another two to three months. After that we will fill vacant assistant professor posts,” they said.
Meanwhile, the government is seeking permission from Medical Council of India for MBBS and PG medical seats in government medical colleges in the state the next academic year.
