Release irrigation water calendar prior to agri season: Chandrababu Naidu
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to remove waste material in the water bodies across the State. Naidu on Monday held a teleconference with officials on Neeru Pragathi. Emphasising the need for maintaining cleanliness in the water bodies, he said that they should be filled up to the optimum level and kept pollution free.
Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials to remove waste material in the water bodies across the State. Naidu on Monday held a teleconference with officials on Neeru Pragathi. Emphasising the need for maintaining cleanliness in the water bodies, he said that they should be filled up to the optimum level and kept pollution free.
He also suggested to them to initiate desiltation activities to protect the water bodies. The irrigation department officials were directed to check the 750 gates of all water bodies including major and minor rivers and other major ponds across the State. Before commencement of the agriculture year, the irrigation water calendar must be released and based on that the water must reach the agriculture fields, the Chief Minister suggested.
He further added that this would provide confidence to the farmers to go for cultivation without bothering about the rains. All the farm ponds and ponds should be filled with water, he directed the officials. He said that before onset of the rainy season, irrigation department should ensure availability of sufficient water for irrigation at the existing farm ponds and other water bodies across the State.
