Caning of civic staff decried
CPM state secretary P Madhu condemned lathicharge and arrest of municipal employees across the state. He said that the employees were peacefully protesting on Tuesday against the government demanding implementation of GO 151 and redressal of their grievances. Madhu alleged that the government had issued the GO 151 for increase of salaries of the municipal employees.
Vijayawada: CPM state secretary P Madhu condemned lathicharge and arrest of municipal employees across the state. He said that the employees were peacefully protesting on Tuesday against the government demanding implementation of GO 151 and redressal of their grievances. Madhu alleged that the government had issued the GO 151 for increase of salaries of the municipal employees.
He said that even two years after issuing the GO, no action was taken to implement the same. He demanded that the government increase the salaries of skilled and unskilled engineering employees and recognise school sweepers as full time employees and increase their salaries. He condemned the arrests of the municipal employees for asking the government to implement the promises given to them.
He alleged that the lathicharge by the police on the municipal employees at Ananthapuram has created a panic. He said that most of the employees fainted and a few women employees were severely injured, he added. He demanded that the government provide better treatment to the hospitalised employees. Implement the GO 151 and solve all the problems of municipal employees, demanded Madhu.
