Vijayawada: Discourage use of plastics and encourage good habits for protecting the environment, said Joint Commissioner of Police Kanthi Rana Tata to mark World Environment Day.

He participated in a programme organised by Confederation of Indian Industry YI Amaravati Chapter.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that civic sense plays a vital role in controlling pollution and change was a gradual phenomenon which would lead to development.

He emphasised that all stakeholders play vital role in sustainable development.

He said security plays a key role in ensuring conducive environment which leads to creation of prosperity. He felt that out of the box thinking was needed to follow the best practices across the world.

B Madhusudan Rao, Joint Chief Environment Engineer, AP Pollution Control Board said that excessive use of pesticides was causing damage to the environment.

He felt there was a need to encourage reusable products for protecting the environment. He observed that there has been excessive use of plastics in the last four decades.

It was necessary to discourage use of plastics, he added.

Tarun Kakani, CEO, Amaravati Boating Club India Pvt Ltd, Bhaskar Nannapaneni, chairman of Yi Amaravati Chapter, Sathvik Chukkapalli, co chair, Yi Amaravati and others were present.
