Eluru: District Collector K Bhaskar has said that officials, teachers and parents should introspect their faults on non-joining of their children in government schools even though the government was providing all facilities.

They should think about the fault in the education system also, he said.

He participated in the discussion on education sector as part of Nava Nirmana Deeksha held in District Collectorate here on Wednesday.

Addressing the officials and teachers, the Collector said the government had been providing all necessary facilities like mid-day meals, free books, uniform and scholarships besides experienced teachers, the parents were not believing the government schools.

Even it was the costliest affair to join their children in private schools, the parents were attracted to the private education, he regretted.

The Collector suggested the teachers to introspect their role in this issue.

“The government is extending modern education free of cost to the students. Even then the joining number in government schools is substantially decreasing day by day.

The 8th class student of government school could not able to teach Class III subjects. The implementation of secondary education system should be analysed. This will help to strengthen the secondary education and government schools,” Collector said.

He said that the Anganwadi centres should take up playschool education to attract the students to government schools. The English medium should also be adopted from the elementary stage, he opined.

Besides this, vocational and professional courses have to be introduced from the elementary stage, he added.

DEO CV Renuka, MLC Ramu Surya Rao, Sarva Siksha Abhiyan Project Officer Brahmananda Reddy and others participated in the discussion.
