Vijayawada: Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner J Nivas instructed the sanitary staff and other workers to clear the stagnated rain water on the highways using motors and other machinery.

He conducted a field level survey at Benz circle, Nirmala convent junction, Kristurajapuram, Film colony, Chandramouli road and Eluru road on Thursday.

On observing the stagnated rain water on most places in the city, the Commissioner ordered the staff to clear the water using machinery on a war-footing.

He ordered the sanitary staff to clear the garbage in the drain at Nirmala convent junction and told the workers to check the culverts and clear the garbage by using JCB for the free flow of rain and drain water.

The Commissioner instructed the sanitary staff to divert the rain water stagnated on the road to the vacant plot at Kristurajapuram as the residents were facing incontinence.

He ordered to clear the silt in the side canals. He directed the L&T contractor to complete the culvert construction work as soon as possible in that area.

He observed water stagnated at Maruthinagar and ordered the staff to clear the rain water using motors.

He later inspected the construction of Box Culvert at Chuttugunta and told the officials to speed up the work in the wake of monsoon season.

Chief engineer P Adiseshu, executive engineer J Srinivas, Prabhakar, deputy executive engineer Gangaraju and others were present.
