Vijayawada: Leaders of Left parties and capital region farmers held a protest at APCRDA office here on Thursday, demanding that the Andhra Pradesh government refrain from entering into Concessioner Development Agreement and Shareholders Agreement with Amaravati Development Partners Pvt Ltd, Singapore.

By entering into agreement with the Singapore company, the state would suffer a setback, opined CPM capital region convener Ch Babu Rao.

Babu Rao alleged that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had mortgaged 1,691 acres of land to Singapore company which was acquired by the CRDA for the benefit of the state and for the construction of Secretariat, Assembly and other government office buildings.

He said that the Singapore company would go for real estate business.

The Singapore company had invested Rs 306 crore and the state government would invest Rs 5,500 crore for the infrastructure, informed Babu Rao.

He blamed the government for not finalising the designs of the Secretariat and Assembly building. Without finalising designs, the government was handing over land to various companies.

He alleged that 33,000 acres of land was taken from the farmers with false promises. Three villages -- Uddandarayunipalem, Lingayapalem and Tallayapalem-- have been handed over to the Singapore company.

The government did not come forward for open debate on the lands. Huge corruption was involved in it, he accused.

He charged the CM for match fixing with the Singapore company.

He wanted the government to cancel the MoU with the Singapore company and come out for an open debate.
