Tirupati: Rich tributes were paid to Telugu poet Sankarambadi Sundarachari on his death anniversary here on Wednesday. Tirupati Urban Development Authority (TUDA) Chairman G Narasimha Yadav along with Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation Director C Hanumantha Rao, AP Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society Limited Vice-Chairman C Swarjya Lakshmi garlanded the statue of Sundarachari at Lakshmipuram Circle.

Speaking on the occasion, Narasimha Yadav said Sankarambadi became immortal with his inspiring Telugu song ‘Maa Telugu Thalliki Mallepu Danda’ which will remain forever in the hearts of Telugu all over the world. He said that the song was made our state anthem as befitting tribute to Sankarambadi.

Hanumantha Rao said that Sankarambadi though penned a rousing song, lead a simple life away from public gaze and no recognition. It was TDP founder NT Rama Rao, who saw the song become the heart-beat of Telugus, bringing Sundharachari to limelight. He urged the State government to take up a memorial for Sankarambadi in his native place Tirupati.
