Amravati: A state government employee donated Rs 1 lakh for construction of Amravati during a teleconference held by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday.

The employee, Reddappa, a revenue department official working in Edmal mandal in Chittoor district, is going to retire this month and donated his last month salary for Amravati city. He explained to the Chief Minister that he was inspired by the efforts being put in by the Chief Minister and hence decided to donate his last month’s salary for construction of the capital city.

Appreciating the employee’s big heartedness, the Chief Minister said that it would be an inspiration for the others to come forward in building the capital city. The government has been organising the Nava Nirmana Deeksha and Maha Sankalpa Deeksha to create awareness among people on the development and welfare programmes being implemented in the state, said Naidu on the occasion.

He added that these programmes were yielding results as majority of people were responding positively to the development of the state. Everyone must donate something out of what they had for the society, he said. The revenue official, Reddappa, explained that he would hand over the Rs 1 lakh cheque to the Chief Minister at Nava Nirmana Deeksha in Chittoor slated for later in the day.
