Chittoor: Endowments Commissioner Y V Anuradha said on Thursday effective measures have been initiated to weed out corrupt elements from the temples to instil confidence among the devotees.

She declared the government is keen on developing all temples across the state in a phased manner with the active participation of devotees and philanthropists.

Earlier, she visited the Kanipakam temple and reviewed the various ongoing development works. The temple officials gave a warm welcome to her on arrival. Speaking to the media, Anuradha stated that she is very particular about providing quality services to the devotees at the temples.

The official said she has been receiving several complaints from devotees against employees of the Endowments department for not attending their needs. While instructing the staff to change their attitude towards the devotees, she mentioned that the government would continue Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam (ritual-offering to deity) Scheme in the temples.

Anuradha complimented the Executive Officer (EO) for remarkable development in Kanipakam temple. She directed the EO to ensure complaints from devotees are attended.

Special drive should be initiated to keep the premises of the temple clean, she added. Endowments Commissioner stressed on the need for giving wide publicity over the availability of facilities at the temple for the devotees.

Kanipakam EO Purnachandra Rao has explained the progress of various works of the temple. Temple Inspector Chittibabu, AAO Ravindra Babu and others were present.
