Nellore: Nellore district Police booked PD cases against the habitual red sanders smugglers who are under trail at the Nellore Central Jail. Sadik Mansoor, M Suresh Reddy, and K Vemaiah were amongst them. According to the Police, Sadik Mansoor from Periyanagar of Tharamani in Tamil Nadu involved in smuggling activities who were maintaining contacts with the international smugglers.

Sadik exports red sanders logs to other countries. The logs are collected from Nellore, Chittoor and also Kadapa forest areas. Fourteen cases were filed against Sadik. M Suresh Reddy is from Chikirenipalli of Dakkli mandal in the district. He exports red sanders logs from Veligonda forest areas. Suresh Reddy transports red sander logs illegally hiding them in water tankers and by other vehicles to Tamil Nadu.

Police have booked 20 cases and one case under forest laws against him. K Vemaiah from Teerthampadu in Dakkili mandal also involved in smuggling activity. He normally arranges coolies from Tamil Nadu offering them huge amount of labour for cutting red sander trees in Veligonda forest area.

16 cases were booked against him in the district. District SP PHD Ramakrishna recommended to book cases under PD act against the three smugglers and the state government has approved on Wednesday the proposed action of the Police.
