The Southwest monsoon was active in coastal Andhra and normal in Rayalaseema on Thursday. Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Krishna, Guntur and Vizianagaram districts of coastal Andhra with Machilipatnam in Krishna district recording 11 cm of rainfall.

Hyderabad: The Southwest monsoon was active in coastal Andhra and normal in Rayalaseema on Thursday. Heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places in Krishna, Guntur and Vizianagaram districts of coastal Andhra with Machilipatnam in Krishna district recording 11 cm of rainfall.

The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in coastal AP were: Mangalagiri (Guntur) 8, Nellimarla (Vizianagaram) 7, Tanuku (West Godavari), Kurnool 6 each, Prakasam Barrage, Avanigada (both in Krishna), Macherla (Guntur) 5 each, Vizianagaram, Vijayawada Airport, Repalle (Guntur), Gudivada (Krishna) 4 each.

There was 3 cm each in Palakoderu (West Godavari), Kaikalur (Krishna), Yelamanchili, Chintapalle (both in Vishakhapatnam), Vararamachandrapur (East Godavari), Paderu (Vishakhapatnam), Chintur (East Godavari), Nandyal (Kurnool). Two cm of rain each was registered in Kunavaram (East Godavari), Mentada (Vizianagaram), Lam (Guntur), Nuzvid (Krishna), Chintapalle, Anakapalle (both Vishakhapatnam), Kukunoor (West Godavari), Bheemunipatnam (Vishakhapatnam) and Pathapatnam (Srikakulam).
