Visakhapatnam: The members of the Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) and Samaikya Praja and Rythu Samkshema Sangham (SPRSS) demanded that the government provide immediate solution to the long pending Simhachalam lands dispute. They announced that they would conduct a four-day padayatra from June 12 to 15 covering five villages in which the lands spread.

The FDNA and SPRSS convened a press conference here on Friday and explained the details of Simhachalam lands dispute. Both the organisations expressed their unhappiness that the TDP assured the people that the issue would be solved in 100 days after coming to power, but even after completing four years, there is no response from the government.

General Secretary of FDNA A Aja Sharma said that the TDP government had created big hurdles on the issue in 1996. There is a civil dispute in the High Court on the lands between the revenue and Simhachalam Devasthanam. With the government directive, the revenue department withdrew the case in the court giving all the rights to the devasthanam.

A total extent of 11,282.26 acres of lands spread in Adavivaram (8,091.67 ac) Vepagunta (1,667.08 ac), Venkatapuram (632.64 ac), Purushottamapuram (111.11 ac). According to available information in the records, Simhachalam Devasthanam is having rights on 39.5 acres only, Aja Sharma said.

A committee formed by the government with the Joint Collector, Survey and Settlement Deputy Director and Assistant Secretary of CCLA as members in its report submitted in 2014 categorically informed that the Simhachalam Devasthanam is having rights on 39.5 acres spread in Adavivaram village only.

However, the government through Chinagadili and Pendurty tahasil’s office issued Rytwari Pattas, later released the GO for regularisation. The entire problem was created by the TDP government only.

Even the RDO of Visakhapatnam declared that the Rytwari Pattas are not valid and informed the government for a fresh survey to identify the rights, but the government had failed to initiate action against the RDO’s verdict, Aja Sharma said.

Demanding cancellation of the Rytwari Pattas issued in 1996 and implementation of 2010 RDO court verdict and the three-member committee report, the FDNA and SPRSS jointly will conduct the padayatra educating the people on the issue, said SPRSS general secretary TV Krishnam Raju.
