Police takes strict measures to curb mishaps
Accidents and accidental deaths fell by 50 per cent in the past one year, thanks to police measures. The police department under the supervision of Superintendent of Police G Pala Raju is taking steps to minimise the road accidents.
Vizianagaram: Accidents and accidental deaths fell by 50 per cent in the past one year, thanks to police measures. The police department under the supervision of Superintendent of Police G Pala Raju is taking steps to minimise the road accidents.
They are conducting frequent vehicle checking and imposing fines for overspeed, not wearing helmets and overload. Generally, major deaths occurred in road accidents for not being admitted to hospitals on time and not providing treatment as soon as possible.
But now, the district police taking several measures to control deaths and trying to provide quick medical assistance to them. Patrolling vehicles are arranged for every 10 km to help the victims during accidents.
The staff working on patrolling vehicles were given training from a corporate hospital here in providing first aid and some other methods for accidental victims. Even on the highway patrolling, vehicles are being allowed to carry the victims to the hospitals.
They are conducting awareness camps and creating awareness among the students on road safety. They are also installing warning boards in accident prone areas. They are frequently monitoring road accidents and imposing fines for drunken driving.
Palaraju conducted couselling to the parents of the boys, who were caught in drunken driving, and advised the parents not to give vehicles to their wards without proper training.
Anyhow, all these efforts made by the police have brought good results and the number of deaths in road accidents were brought down. Sometimes, police are stopping the vehicles during the midnight and washing the faces of the drivers to come out of drowsiness.
