Amaravati/Hyderabad: JEE (Advanced) 2018 results, for admission into engineering courses in 23 premier IITs, were declared on Sunday. Mavuri Shiva Krishna Manohar from Vijayawada was the topper from the two Telugu speaking states.

He stood All India 5th and also All India 1st in OBC category. KVR Hemanth Kumar, a native of Visakhapatnam, secured All India 7th rank. Jatoth Shiva Tarun from Hyderabad secured All India First rank in ST category.

Also, Mavuri Shiva Krishna (5th rank) and N Chaya Sai Nikhitha (153rd rank) topped male and female categories in candidates that appeared in the Advanced test from Madras Zone. Hemanth Kumar (7th rank) was the topper from IIT Kharagpur zone.

IIT Kanpur, that conducted JEE (Advanced) exam on May 20, released the results on its website: results.jeeadv.ac.in. Seat allocation in IITs will commence on June 15. For the first time, JEE Advanced was held completely in the online mode.

Pranav Goyal from Panchakula, Haryana was the All India topper while Meenal Parakh from Kota, Rajasthan was the All India topper among women candidates.

Of the total 1.5 lakh candidates that appeared for the exam from across the country, a total of 18, 138 candidates qualified for the exam. The total number of seats in all IITs is 11,279.

Of the total qualified candidates 2076 are female candidates. It may be noted that 800 supernumerary seats have created specifically for female candidates this year by MHRD to improve gender balance in IITs. As per provisions, total supernumerary seats created cannot exceed 10 percent of total seats being offered in the IITs.

If we consider Zone-wise qualified candidates, the maximum qualified (5,072) were from IIT Delhi zone while 3,595 students qualified from IIT Madras zone comprising majority of TS and AP. Another 2,936 students qualified from IIT Bombay zone, 2,160 students from IIT Kanpur zone, 1,736 from IIT Kharagpur zone, 1,800 from IIT Roorkee zone and 839 from IIT Guwahati zone.
