Amaravati: Directing officials to complete the construction of 4,500 work sheds as soon as possible, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accepted the proposals for construction of another 6,000 sheds.

These work sheds will help the farmers in making compost from cattle dung which would generate income for them, Chandrababu Naidu explained during a review meeting on Neeru-Pragati on Monday. The compost must be transported to agricultural fields in the State as part of promoting Zero Budget Natural Farming, he added.

At the same time, he directed officials to provide all the inputs to the farmers for raising crops across the State during the ensuing kharif season.
Officials were suggested to analyse the weather conditions well in advance and based on that they must suggest farmers on the crops they should cultivate to reduce losses.

All the farmers should get Minimum Support Price announced by the government and it would be the responsibility of government, he said. Officials informed that some farmers were not getting remunerative price since the agricultural produce was not having required moisture.

The moisture content was about 17 percent less in farm produces which were cut through machinery, officials explained. This happened in Godavari districts, they pointed out. Responding on the issue, Chandrababu Naidu said that reducing price on the name of moisture content was not good.

As the monsoon arrived in the State, Chandrababu Naidu suggested to medical and health, Panchayat Raj and urban development departments to take measures to prevent water-borne diseases in the State. Appreciating the efforts of irrigation department officials in completing diaphragm wall of Polavaram Project in record time, he said that the entire project must be completed with the same spirit.
