Rajamahendravaram: City MLA Dr Akula Satyanarayana has informed that steps have been taken to develop century-old Gowthami Regional Library (GRL) in all aspects and to bring back its past glory.

Inspecting the ongoing construction work of the new library building here on Monday, he said many research scholars across the state visited the regional library, which has rare and valuable books. Moreover, the digitalization of rare books is also underway in the library which is a marathon task. The digitalization was aimed to keep the rare books ready for future generations.

The new building is coming up with an estimated cost of Rs. 2.75 crore to cater to the needs of readers as the existing library building does not have enough space. The building slab works will be completed by August and the construction of the whole building will be completed by December-end, he said, adding that latest facilities would also be provided in the new library building.
