New Delhi: The Centre has provided financial assistance of Rs 94.13 crore under DDUGJY (Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyothi Yojana) and Rs 747.99 crore under IPDS (Integrated Power Development Scheme) to Andhra Pradesh and Rs 462.20 crore and Rs 743.70 crore to Telangana under the programmes for strengthening of the power distribution sector to complement the UDAY (Ujwal Discom Assurance Yojana) programmes. This was disclosed by former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya here on Wednesday.

Presently, the Available Transfer Capability of (ATC) for import of power to Southern Grid from rest of the grid is of the order of 8,900 MW which shall be progressively enhanced to about 18,400 MW with progressive commissioning of under-construction inter-regional links by 2019-20.

This would be sufficient to cater the requirement of power of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This present release of funds will help Telangana and AP to provide 24 hours x 7 days electricity to the residents and industries of the states.
