Vijayawada: A 20-year-old female employee of a call centre ended her life at her residence in Sanath Nagar under Penamalur Police Station limits on Monday due to a dispute with her colleague.

The incident came to light on Tuesday when her parents lodged a complaint with Penamaluru police about the death of the girl. According to Penamaluru police, K Lakshmi Hymavathi (20), a call centre employee, found hanging from the ceiling at her residence. Her parents lodged a complaint with police stating that Hymavati was facing harassment from her colleague Alekhya (20) and her friend Sai Krishna (21).

Police said Hymavathi and Alekhya became friends a few months ago at workplace. Later, Alekhya had introduced her friend Sai Krishna to Hymavathi. Later, the disputes broke out between Alekhya and Hymavati as Alekhya warned Hymavati not to speak to her friend Sai Krishna.

The police suspect Hymavati could have been upset over the dispute and ended her life. But, her parents alleged Sai Krishna had harassed and forced Hymavati to love him.

Penamaluru Circle Inspector K Damodar said police are investigating the case to find out the exact reason for the suicide of Lakshmi Hymavati. He said a case was as death under suspicious circumstances (CrPC 174) and investigation is on.
