Implement schemes effectively; Panel to officials

Nellore: Former minister and Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Assurances Gollapalli Surya Rao said people should question the local leaders on the assurances made to them and it is the responsibility of the officials to fulfil them as per directions of the government.

He visited the city on Tuesday and interacted with the officials at ZP Conference hall and said the aim of committee’s visit is to pave the way for responsible governance and to increase dedication among official machinery.

He said the Chief Minister asked them to visit all districts and observe and review on status of assurances made. Member K Narayana Swamy said there were different reasons for failing to fulfil all promises and asked the officials to overcome them. District Collector R Mutyala Raju explained about the measures taken by the district administration to fulfil the promises.

Members of the committee were given detailed explanation by the district officials about construction of houses, TB hospital, e-seva centres, construction of airport, progress of Penna barrage and other works. Committee Assistant Secretary Raj Kumar, Section Officer Kumara Swamy, DRO Venkata Subbaiah and others were present.
