Traders charging high prices: Minister
Minister for civil supplies and consumers affairs Prathipati Pulla Rao said that though the state government was taking several measures for price control, consumers were suffering from traders, who were increasing the maximum retail price (MRP) and collecting exorbitant rates.

Speaking at the consumers protection council meeting at the Secretariat on Tuesday, the minister said that he found that some traders in Vijayawada were printing Rs 40 on half litre water bottle, and a price of Rs 100 was printed on a water bottle which was found in a remote village in East Godavari district.
The consumers council members told the minister that exorbitant rates were being collected at bus stations, and even APSRTC was increasing ticket prices during festivals.
They said that corporate colleges in the state did not implement the rule that 25 per cent of students should be given free education and have not appointed parents committees in private educational institutions.
The council members also said Akshyapatra Foundation was not supplying eggs for midday meal in schools. Officials of various departments participated in the meeting.
