Kadapa: On the directions of the state government, the district administration has proposed to acquire 20 acres of land from the farmers in Porumamilla mandal in the first phase for constructing the gas pipeline from Vijayawada to Dharmapuri of Tamil Nadu state.

In this connection, Rajampet RDO Veerabrahmam has inspected the lands at Dammanapalli and Sunkesulapalli villages on Wednesday and sought opinion of people and farmers over the government proposal. Farmers has informed the RDO that the cost of 1 acre is Rs 30 lakh as per the market value as they are getting good yield in Kharif and Rabi seasons.

Apart from Rs 30 lakh compensation, farmers demanded that the government should provide job to a member of the displaced family. However, the RDO made it clear to the farmers that the government is ready to pay Rs 8 lakh per acre.

He did not give any assurance on providing job as it is a policy decision. At this juncture, farmers said that they are not willing to give their lands. The RDO assured farmers of taking their demands to the notice of the Collector. Porumamilla MRO Chandrasekhar and other officials were present.
