Vijayawada: Mayor Koneru Sridhar informed that the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation secured fourth position across the nation in Swachh Bharat.
Addressing the media here on Friday, the mayor said VMC had taken up several development activities.
He informed that the Kanaka Durga Temple flyover was redesigned by foreign engineers with the latest technology, which was first of its kind in the country and sixth across the world.
The mayor said that Soma Construction Company would speed up the construction work at the earliest. He said that one side of the six line Benz Circle flyover works would be completed in February 2019.
The second side of the flyover construction work would commence immediately.
He said that they had spent Rs 450 crore for storm water drainage system. He said that they had cleared UCO bank debts and paid salaries to the employees in time and would do justice to family members of 39 VMC diseased employees, he added.
The mayor said the VMC had spent Rs 2,000 crore for various activities which include greenery and city beautification programme.
He expressed ire over YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy’s “baseless comments” on the development activities in Vijayawada. He opined that the YSRCP would merge with the BJP by the end of 2018.
