Vijayawada: Telugu Desam party general secretary and APSRTC Chairman Varla Ramaiah said that Dalits, Christians, Muslims and Sikhs were feeling insecure under the BJP rule. He expressed concern over the increasing attacks on the minorities.

Addressing a media conference at the RTC conference hall on Friday, Ramaiah demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should give a statement about the safety of different sections of the people.

He said that democracy was at stake in the country due to the growing attacks on the minorities and Dalits during the last three years. He recalled that Archbishop of Delhi and Archbishop of Goa also expressed similar fears.

Ramaiah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should respond and give statement about the safety of Dalits and minorities in the country. He said that the National Crime Records Bureau said that only seven per cent people were misusing the SC/ST Atrocities Act and suggested to the government to take action against those seven per cent people, who misuse it.

He felt it was wrong to scrap the SC/ST Act, which gives protection to Dalits and tribals in the country. He said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister about the plight of Dalits and minorities in India.
